THE Thobi Kula sports ground played host to the Lilitha College Soccer Tournament on a fine sunny Saturday afternoon at the weekend.

Four teams – Lilitha College, Komani Hospital Security, Boston City Campus and Business College and the Revelation Church of God – participated in the one-day tournament.

The semifinals saw the Komani Security team win 1-0 against Boston College, while Lilitha College thrashed the Revelation Church of God by 4-1 to move to secure a spot in the final.

Event organiser Phathuxolo Mkefa said, “We are happy that all the teams came to play. It is nice to see everyone here together enjoying a sport we all like.”

He said their main objectives were to try and do fundraising for the final-year students’ farewell function and to interact with other institutions in town. “We are trying to unite people, as well as promote education and sport. We have the challenge of crime and therefore, through sport, we can get to know and help each other.”

The Komani Hospital Security team were crowned champions at the end of the day, beating Lilitha College 2-1 in extra time.
