NEWLY elected Enoch Mgijima executive mayor Lindiwe Gunuza Nkwentsha did not waste time appointing her mayoral committee when the council sat for the first time following the August 3 local government elections.
Former Tsolwana chief whip Noluthando Nqabisa was appointed corporate services political head, Zukiswa Ralane , a former teacher at Mpendulo Public Primary School, was appointed head of community services, and Sibusiso Mvana returned to council from being an ordinary councillor to heading the technical services portfolio.
Former Telkom manager Xoliswa Xelo was appointed to the integrated planning and economic development portfolio with former Inkwanca mayor Luleka Gubula as the political head of human settlements and Tembeka Bunu the special programmes unit head.
Former Tsolwana mayor Marina Bennett was appointed municipal public accounts committee chairman while former DA member who joined the ANC, Adele Hendricks was appointed public safety portfolio head. The finance portfolio head remains vacant at present.
