A GROUP of Komani young people have revived the Children’s Ambassador Panel , a structure which was started 20 years ago.
The panel , which was the brainchild of resident Lunga Tsotsi, works within the Chris Hani District and serves as a discussion body for issues facing the youth .
The panel consists of three organisations – the Komani Youth Organisation, the Junior Town Council and the School Christian Organisation.
Head of the Children’s Ambassador Panel Juan Botha said the organisa- tions were striving to make a difference in the com- munity as the unemploy- ment rate was high.
“The main aim and vision for these organisations is to empower young minds and determine their interests and skills.
“All schools in Komani are represented in these three organisations.”
Tsotsi said, “As the Children’s Ambassador Panel , you should be unified and able to share resources. The current challenges that the youth are facing are similar to the challenges faced in 1997.
Unite and fight against social injustices, rape and drug abuse.”
The three groups organise activities to benefit the youth , including a sanitary towel drive, a tinned food drive, beauty pageants and sports activities.
