The Boks keep climbing the International Rugby rankings. In June the Boks climbed to the number five position, after defeating France 37-14 in Pretoria.
Since then, the Boks have moved up and currently occupies third spot with 85.65 points with England second on 90.14 points and New Zealand first with 95.21 points.
The rankings were last updated yesterday with Ireland dropping to fourth place.
The Boks will face Australia in their next match of the rugby championship after winning both home (37-15) and away games (23-41) against Argentina.
Australia is positioned at number five on the rankings, with 84.21 points, but points and rankings will count for nothing as these old rivals will go head to head on September 9 in Perth, Australia, for the first time this year. The sides have met 84 times in total with South Africa winning 45 of those games with one draw and the Wallabies winning 36 games.
The Wallabies may well be like an injured buffalo, and will be recovering from two defeats by the Kiwis at home (37-14) and on the away leg (35-29). The Boks will be preparing for what is promising to be a titanic encounter following a five match winning streak.
The Wallabies narrowly lost in their last encounter against the All Blacks.
Rugby lovers will agree that these are the kind of matches they love to watch as the question arises: Will the Boks be able to soak up the pressure against a desperate Aussie side, that has home advantage, or will the Wallabies choke under the pressure in their desperation for a win? Only time will tell.
The world rugby rankings were found in the worldrugby.org rankings website and the history of both sides was obtained from Wikipedia SIMTEMBILE MGIDI
