According to Alan Greaves’ book, ‘Tell Me of Komani’ the history of the church began in 1853 when two acres of land was granted by Governor Sir George Cathcart.
For the first two years, services were held in the courthouse in Cathcart Road.
The first building, later the parish hall, was built in 1855 and a chancel and vestry were added in 1862. In 1881, under the Reverend C.S. Vyvian, a scheme was launched for the building of the church.
The building was dedicated on February 15, 1885 and in 1920, more land was added. By November 1923, the church was completed.
