The Komani police have warned residents of Top Town in Komani that men, driving a small maroon vehicle with Gauteng registration plates, are trying to access homes in the area.
Police spokesman Captain Namhla Mdleleni said the men, claiming to be from a marketing research company, were telling residents that they were doing a survey of newspapers, magazines and television programmes being watched and read by residents.
This was being done under false pretences in order to gain access to homes to look at security measures and where access could be gained.
Mdleleni said it was believed that the men were also checking on how many people lived in the home and who they were.
Members of the public are being warned to be on the lookout for the men and not to allow them access to homes. Contact the Komani police or call 10111 with any information or to report their whereabouts.
