THE department of economic development, environmental affairs and tourism (Dedeat) informed business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs about the new company registration services offered by the department. Amendments, submission of financial records and complying with the Companies Act were also discussed.
Dedeat enterprise development manager Mbulelo Jongilanga said, “We are moving around local municipalities to create an awareness for people to know about the services which will be available in all regional offices. The department wants to reduce the costs of doing business by making the information easily accessible to people.”
Jongilanga said the new registration system was a highly technological base solution and would help people a great deal, instead of having them waiting long periods.
“Enoch Mgijima Municipality is our first stop and we plan to move to other municipalities. The department’s representatives would head for other constituencies to spread the word.”
The department was doing this in partnership with CIPC which he said had a mandate to conduct the registration according to the companies act which the province did not have previously.
“The challenge was that the department had always been a middle man and we noted that the costs were too high for people to access the services. The turn around used to be quite long and we are trying to shorten it. All the documentation will be available with in 14 day or less.”
Jongilanga said people can use these services through an electronic biometric devise which recognised a person through their finger prints which was linked to the department of home affairs to identify the rightful owner.
People will access the details of their company information and would be also able to make amendments, he said.
“Previously the challenge was to do the work through a lot of paper work but things could not be accessed at one go. Entrepreneurs will need to know the system in order to punch in information. There is no paper work everything is IT related.”
