MEC for transport Weziwe Tikana-Gxothiwe will, along with a team of inter-departmental officials, embark on disinfecting and fumigating taxi ranks around the province.
According to the department’s Facebook page this was to intensify the battle against Covid-19.
“The first week of the national lockdown was somewhat hindered by the social grant payments and month end shopping, which included some of the Eastern Cape’s migrant workers. With all those things behind us, it is now time to shift up a gear and move with speed in the race to flatten the curve of the infection rate.”
King William’s Town will be visited on April 6, Port Elizabeth and Makhanda on April 7 and Mthatha on April 8. “The dates for visits to other locations will be communicated in due time.”
