Welcome to the REP newspaper:
The REP newspaper is thrilled to announce the appointment of Phumelele Hlati as our new editor, bringing a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to our publication. He holds a BA having majored in English, Higher Diploma in Education from UCT and Higher Diploma in Journalism, Postgraduate, from Rhodes University.
A former teacher, journalist, and businessman, Phumelele’s diverse background equips him with the unique skills necessary to guide our newspaper through the evolving landscape of community journalism.
In welcoming Phumelele, Arena Community Newspapers manager Chris van Heerden expressed his confidence in the new editor’s capabilities. “Phumelele knows the Komani distribution footprint area of the newspaper and will be an invaluable asset in linking businesses, the community, and leaders of Komani to tell their stories,” van Heerden said.
“Phumelele’s commitment to fostering connections within the community is evident in his previous roles. His experience as a teacher has shaped his understanding of effective communication, while his background in journalism provides him with the insight needed to craft compelling narratives that resonate with our readership. His business experience ensures that the REP will not only inform but also engage with local enterprises, ultimately strengthening the ties that bind our community.”
As he steps into this pivotal role, Phumelele is excited to embark on this journey with the REP newspaper. “I look forward to working closely with our team and the community to ensure that the stories of Komani are told with authenticity and passion,” he said.
Under Phumelele’s leadership, the REP newspaper is poised to enhance its coverage and deepen its connection with the community it serves. We invite our readers to join us in welcoming Phumelele Hlati to the REP family and look forward to the exciting developments that lie ahead.
