Man in court for fraud

Date:

A KOMANI man was arrested and charged with fraud in King William’s Town (KWT) on Saturday after he allegedly tried to purchase firearms using fake documents, police said on Monday.

KWT police spokesman captain Siphokazi Mawisa said the police were called by a businessman where Mankenke Soyoko, 30, tried to buy the firearms.

“It is alleged that the suspect brought fraudulent documents to purchase these firearms.

“The owner thoroughly checked the documents and immediately alerted the police,” Mawisa said.

KWT station commander Colonel Andile Lamana said he appreciated the working relationship between the community and the police in fighting crime within communities.

He also encouraged community members to report criminals and criminal activities to the police.
