RAINBOW Stars Football Club were crowned the winners of the Top Notch soccer tournament at the Dumpy Adams sports field on Saturday.
The Aloevale club played to a 1-1 draw with Komani Stars and beat Milan FC by 2-1 in the tournament which had four teams competing for top honours. Event organiser Mncane Maqoko said the Top Notch football tournament teams all contributed towards the prize money, with the winner taking all.

“It is something that used to be done in the olden days. It helps teams to be able to win a prize immediately and not have to wait for the end of the league. “This kind of Top Notch tournament helps teams to know that anyone can win at any time.”Plans were under way to host the tournaments more frequently. “Judging by last week’s tournament, we can see that it was well supported. We are now looking at hosting an Easter tournament next year when the winning team will walk away with R10000.”
