Fans came out in numbers as the Lady Frere team beat FC Matatiele by 6-5 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in the semifinal on Saturday. Amavarara’s Yandisa Rasmeni was the man of the moment after scoring two goals against Amayaya FC to help his side win by 2-1 in the final match on Sunday afternoon.
Amavarara coach Mzunani Mgwigwi said a victory was non-negotiable for his charges.
“The approach was to take things step by step as we had a mission to gain promotion. We will use every opportunity. The aim is to have more game time so that the boys can get to understand the kind of style we want them to play so we still have a long way to go.”
Amavarara will face EC Bees in their final game to be a part of the national knock-out tournament. Bees won the play-offs in the AB Motsepe league qualifiers recently.
