Under 14 and keen on soccer?

THE 2017 McDonald’s U/14 schools league registration is back and open to all schools in South Africa. Now in its eighth year, it promises nothing but exciting things for your school’s team.  The registration process began on January 11 and many schools across the country, far and wide, have been responding to the call to register by sending forms back to be part of this prestigious U14 League.

The 2016 defending champions are the highly talented team from Clapham High School in Pretoria. Their journey to the national championship has truly been an remarkable one. After being knocked out in 2014 at Cluster Circuit, then eliminated at the Regional Phase of the province in 2015, they gathered notes from the previous knockouts and decided to aim higher to reach for the stars so that in 2016 they lift the trophy that’s been missing from their cabinet.

The tournament has in recent years produced players like Phakamani Mahlambi, Sibongakonke Mbatha and Kobamelo Kodisang, who are currently representing South Africa in Zambia at CAF U20 Cup.

Speaking about the league, Daniel Padiachy, Chief Marketing Officer of McDonald’s South Africa said: “The McDonald’s U14 Schools League has been entrenched in the concept of ‘Developing Dreams’ and over the years, we have been proud to witness those dreams become a reality for the young boys of this country. We are excited about the league and this year hope to reach 5 000 schools and further provide an opportunity for parents and the communities to be part of the all festivities while supporting their children.”

Schools around the country are encouraged to register for the U14 McDonald’s Schools League 2017. League forms are available on the website www.saschoolsfa.co.za or contact the organisers on (011) 403 2844. Registration closes on March 31.
