SOUTH African actor Joe Mafela was laid to rest at Westpark Cemetery in Randburg after his funeral service at the University of Johannesburg Soweto Campus yesterday.

Locals spoke on how they will remember the talented comedian.

Ntomboxolo Mtsi said she will remember Mafela for his “Its good it’s nice” Chicken Licken advertisement. “I remember how he kept used Fresh Roses teabags and sold them for 50c. He really is a great loss.”

Maxhaba Ntoni said he will remember Mafela for his great sense of humour. “I liked his jokes which made the children and everyone in the family laugh. Go well –  may his soul rest in peace.”

Nkosinathi Myataza said Mafela was a funny man who knew how to make people happy.

“I remember his regular “Sgudi Snaysi” comedy show scene where a thug called Laqhasha would chase him with a baseball bat. May his soul rest in peace.”
