Lekota calls on patriots to support Zuma’s removal

Date:

THE failure of the ANC national executive committee (NEC) to remove President Jacob Zuma from office over the weekend was proof that the party has also been captured, Cope president Mosiuoa Lekota said in a statement.

He said this explained why the ruling ANC veered away from the constitutional route. “ “Consequently the proven abuse of state power, state owned enterprises and other institutions of the state are under full control by the Zupta Gate (in reference to the Gupta family and the Zuma family alleged relations),” Lekota said.

He said Zuma remaining the party president was placing the Guptas in full control and in high speed in taking South Africa’s public resources to destinations outside the country.
“No patriotic NEC and South Africans would support a leader who has been proven to be unethical like Zuma. That he has scolded the NEC in the end is evidence of his over confidence born of this NEC support.”

Lekota said Cope was calling on all patriotic South Africans to stand up and be counted in defence of SA’s hard-won democracy. “This they can do by supporting calls and marches for the resignation of Zuma, calls on ANC caucus to vote in support of vote of no confidence and to prepare themselves to vote overwhelmingly in 2019 for adherent of the constitution and advocates of the rule of law,” Lekota said.
