Urgent: Update on power outages in Komani

THE five-day power outage in Mlungisi has been reduced to three days.

Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality (EMLM) spokesman Gcobani Msindwana said the transformer oil change in Mlungisi was ahead of schedule. The power in the area had been switched off on Saturday.

Msindwana said the electricity should be switched back on tomorrow at 7am instead of the previously scheduled time of Thursday, June 8, at noon.

He thanked everyone involved in the work and load shedding for their commitment and the consumers for their patience.

The scheduled power cut for the Western side – which includes Amberdale, Tarkastad, Flowers Halt, Madeira, the central business district of Komani, Westbourne, Ebden Street, the SPCA area, Laurie Dashwood, Komani Park, Southbourne, Sandringham and the area around the former Group 39 base – had now been changed to start on Wednesday, June 7, instead of Friday, June 9.

Msindwana said it was expected that the power would be switched back on on Saturday at 7am.

“We will have switching interruptions but do not anticipate long load shedding.”

He said the municipality was busy monitoring the loads.
