The Rep took a drive around the CBD and piles of litter can be seen outside business premises and in the streets of the town.
Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality spokesman Fundile Feketshane said municipal workers had downed tools yesterday following unresolved issues with management.
”There was a meeting yesterday which caused a labour unrest due to unresolved issues and the workers have not gone back to work today,” Feketshane said.
Municipal workers were seen gathered outside the town hall earlier today.
Feketshane said a statement on the matter would be issued shortly.
