
DEPUTY President Cyril Ramaphosa’s spokesman Ronnie Mamoepa has undergone surgery on Monday after taking ill and is still in hospital receiving medical care in the intensive care unit (ICU), the Presidency said in a statement on Wednesday morning.
Communications Chief Director in Ramaphosa’s office Tyrone Seale said Mamoepa was visited by Ramaphosa in hospital on Tuesday evening. “Mamoepa took ill in the early hours of June 19 and was transferred to hospital where he has undergone surgery. Deputy President Ramaphosa’s thoughts are with Mamoepa’s family at this time and he wished Mamoepa a speedy recovery,” Seale said.
He said in line with the wishes of he Mamoepa family and hospital staff in relation to privacy and management of Mamoepa’s condition, visits would be permitted once Mamoepa was transferred to a general ward from the intensive care unit.
