IN AN ATTEMPT to reinforce government’s vision to protect and take good care of children by the public, Rural Development and Land Reform (RDLR) will partner with Chris Hani District Municipality to host a Child Protection summit in Komani from tomorrow to Sunday.
RDLR head of women, children and people with disabilities and older persons Nomkhitha Zokufa said the summit was part of Child Protection Week which was commemorated annually to raise awareness on the rights of children as stated in the Children’s Act no 38 of 2005.
“The summit targets children between the ages of eight and 14 from schools from around the district. A collaborative approach between government and all non governmental organisations whose mandate is the welfare of children will attend (the summit).” She said the summit will start at 10am at Victoria Manor.
