The mother of Eastern Cape Premier, Phumulo Masualle, Caroline Deneo Masualle passed away on Friday night following a long illness.
Deneo Masualle, who was 89 years old, recently suffered a stroke for which she was in and out of hospital. While undergoing rehabilitative treatment, following the stroke, she experienced further complications resulting in her latest hospitalization at Frere Hospital where she was receiving treatment.
The head of the administrative arm of the provincial government, Director-General Marion Mbina-Mthembu, has on behalf of the government of the Eastern Cape conveyed her condolences to the Masualle family.
The provincial Cabinet, Legislature and leadership of the African National Congress in the province and staff of the Office of the Premier were earlier informed of the passing on of Premier Masualle’s mother.
