Hangklip 75th celebrations a resounding success

Hoërskool Hangklip celebrated a milestone over the weekend, facing off against rivals Aliwal North High School in several sporting fixtures.
Hangklip celebrated its 75th birthday at the traditional reunion weekend under sunny skies and with a huge crowd in attendance.

Kwanele Mazomba, 16, who is from East London but was in Komani for the weekend, said, “I’ve witnessed a few reunions and I must say this one was well organized. It has a festival feel to it with a good sporting menu to go with it. I am relaxing with my cousin and I am enjoying myself.”
Sive Dube, 16, said he had particularly enjoyed the parade which featured green and white balloons (the school colours) being released.
The Hangklip Netball team played courageously against an Aliwal North outfit, claiming a 25-15 win.
Watching the under 13 hockey game was a delight, with Aliwal North claiming a 4-0 victory against a Hangklip side that had a never-say-die attitude .
The parade was well put together, with Stephan Erasmus and Jenaé van Wyk, Mr and Miss Hangklip 2017, representing the school.
