THE Rep has received a few calls from residents appealing to homeowners in the Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality area to keep their refuse off the streets until clarity existed over the municipal strike.
The strike started last week following dissatisfaction over the lack of 10 months’ back pay following a benchmarking exercise.
No update on the strike is currently available.
Several residents said the same strike last year had resulted in extensive littering in the streets as rubbish bags were left on the pavements outside businesses and homes for days as a result of non-collection by municipal workers.
