COPE President Mosiuoa Lekota said the ANC MPs put the ANC ahead of South Africa when they voted to retain embattled President Jacob Zuma as the leader of South Africa.

In a statement this morning, Lekota said: As the SACC noted: ‘What has been seen cannot be unseen’.
“South Africans of all persuasions have witnessed the events of today and have taken stock of what has transpired. Now that they have seen the moral bankruptcy of the ANC in today’s vote, despite a secret ballot, South Africans (and history) will judge the ANC harshly.”
He said South Africans would come to realise that it was time to reclaim “our national sovereignty and ensure ‘government for the people and by the people’. This project now moves beyond the mere removal of Jacob Zuma as the illegitimate President of our nation. It’s now clear for all to see that the time has come to rid our country of the ANC as the governing party.”
