THE Department of Rural Development and Land Reform in the Eastern Cape will be conducting consultations on the Communal Land Tenure Rights Bill during October.
On July 7, the Department published the Bill with comments allowed until November 30 this year.

The Department is currently engage stakeholders for comments with the Bill proposing ways of managing land in communal areas.
According to a statement by the department today, it will table what the Bill hopes to provide including the transfer of ownership to communities and to allow community members on communal land to access land on an equitable basis.
Sessions in the Chris Hani district will take place on: October 9: Komani (formerly Queenstown); October 10: Cofimvaba; October 11: Engcobo; October 12: Cala; October 13: Cacadu (formerly Lady Frere).
