Fifteen held for Stutterheim cases

POLICE have arrested 15 suspects in connection with cases ranging from housebreaking to business robbery in Stutterheim.

Police spokesman Captain Siphokazi Mawisa said police had embarked on an operation to trace suspects from cases opened in the town on Friday.

Police followed up on information from 1am until 9am and managed to arrest 15 suspects, aged between 22 and 45, on charges ranging from business robbery to assault, housebreaking and theft, possession of drugs, robbery and contravention of protection orders.

Police also recovered a fridge, a computer and household goods with an estimated value of R10 000.

The suspects are due to appear in the Stutterheim Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

King William’s Town police cluster commander Brigadier Luntu Ngubelanga said police were committed to the fight against crime and would be tracking down perpetrators. Related operations would continue, he said.

He thanked the community for sharing information and called on people to report criminal activities to 08600 1011.
