Saving water: what you said

Date:

What should the local government be doing to ensure that water usage is restricted in this time of crisis, The Rep asked of our readers in a recent poll on The Rep website.

Twelve people voted in the poll, with six saying the Chris Hani District Municipality should start restricting people to the number of kilolitres used per day – much like what Cape Town and Port Elizabeth are doing – and fine those in contravention of such stipulations.

Five people said local government should find a way to subsidise water tanks at homes as dry conditions are set to become part of our everyday lives.

One person felt that the district authority was doing enough as water cuts currently in place was enough of a water-saving measure.

Thanks for participating – watch out for our new poll on our website soon!
