Cabinet reshuffle shows Zuma’s moral bankruptcy – Cope

PRESIDENT Jacob Zuma’s latest Cabinet reshuffle exposes his desperation and moral bankruptcy, Cope said in a statement today.

President Jacob Zuma

The party said it was evident that Zuma has gone rogue as president and as president of “what’s left of the ANC.

“There is no evidence in Zuma’s rearranging of his pawns that he has the interests of South Africa and its people at heart. His moves are calculated to continue with the state capture project and to protect his own political and selfish interests.”

Cope said Mineral Resources Minister Mosebenzi Zwane, Public Enterprises Minister Lynne Brown and Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba, who have been implicated in the capture of the state and the country’s resources, were retained. “Had Zuma any morality all three would have been fired.”

New Energy Minister David Mahlobo, whom Cope described as “Zuma’s fixer” had been moved to Energy to facilitate the Russian nuclear deal with Gigaba.

“(New State Security Minister Bongani) Bongo, a rabid defender of Zuma in Parliament, is moved to do Zuma’s dirty intelligence work, in all probability under the direction of Mahlobo.”

Cope said that with each Zuma cabinet reshuffle, South Africa had been the loser.
