A 29-YEAR-old Ngqamahkwe man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the murder of his grandmother in May 2015.
Police spokesman Captain Jackson Manatha said Sandiso Matse was convicted in the Tsomo regional court of murdering Nolast Matse, 81 on May 14, 2015 at Nqancule village, Ngqamakhwe.
The deceased had allegedly asked her grandson why he had used her dry cow dung. She was then fatally stabbed.
Manatha said the Eastern Cape police welcomed the sentence and hoped it would deter other criminals which preyed on elderly women who were not in a position to defend themselves.
