Senior Komani librarian Laetitia Nel said the libraries in the Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality area will be closed until January 28.
Nel said members who were not able to return their books on Thursday would not be charged due to the short public notice.
The libraries include libraries Komani, Mlungisi, Ashley Wyngaardt, Ezibeleni,Whittlesea, Mcheula, Tendergate, Barringdon, Sterkstroom, Moltino, Hofmeyer and Tarkastad.
