The Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality has indicated that power supply problems are being experienced in the Queendustria and Ezibeleni areas.
Spokesman Gcobani Msindwana said one of two cables used for the Ezibeleni power supply had become faulty.Load shedding was being applied in the area to protect the remaining cable.
The cable would be repaired in the morning he said.
Msindwana apologised for any inconvenience resulting from the outage.
