THE Chris Hani District Municipality (CHDM) has confirmed that a generator has been installed at the town’s water purification plant and that pumping of water has resumed.
Most areas of Komani, including Ezibeleni, Mlungisi and the various suburbs, have been without water since Wednesday afternoon following an extended power outage. The electricity function is overseen by the Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality and water by CHDM.
While the electricity has been restored to most areas, some, including a large section of the CBD and Westbourne, Weshof and Madeira Park, remain without power.
CHDM spokesman Thobeka Mqamelo said some areas had already started getting water.
“Different areas will get supply at different times due to the pressure.”
