CHDM & EMLM elaborate on water crisis

Date:

SOLUTION: After a water crisis that started on Wednesday due to a prolonged power outage, Chris Hani District Municipality (CHDM) has assured residents that the problem has been solved.

CHDM communications manager Thobeka Mqamelo said several pipe leaks had been fixed.

WSSA advised that water was being pumped from Waterdown dam. All other pumps were now running to get water to the reservoirs and suburbs.

Mqamelo said, “We ask people to be patient as some areas will get water before others. We must now hope that there are no new electricity faults or bursts on the water-pipes which will cause new delays.

“We are now pumping to Ezibeleni Zone 1 first then two hours later we will start transfer pump for other areas within Ezibeleni.”

Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality (EMLM) spokeperson Gcobani Msindwana said, “Five trucks have been deployed to different areas around EMLM according to Info that is available and reservoirs are filling up in that all areas have received water”         Picture: PROVIDED
