Tikana rolls out Safety month programme

Date:

THE department of safety and liaison MEC Wezive Tikane will hold a youth empowerment dialogue and school debates on existing gangsterism drugs and alcohol abuse in Sada on Tuesday.

Tikane will be rolling out the Safety Month Programme to intensify the fight against crime and corruption in the Eastern Cape.

Head of Communications Michael Msebi said the key activities of the programme will be implemented across the municipalities of the province.

The department will focus on mobilising communities against crime; strengthening oversight over the South African Police Service to enhance service delivery and to strengthen stakeholder collaboration with a focus on youth, people living with disability and the elderly, Msebi said.

Other objectives include promoting rural safety, school safety and strengthening community police structures.
