The Rep recently posted a poll asking Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality readers their opinion on the R40-million loan sought by the local authority from FNB to allow the payment of Eskom.
Readers were given three options with two (4.55%) indicating that the loan would help the municipality buy time to enable the collection of more money from debtors to facilitate future payments.
A further 12 readers (27.27%) said that it was temporary solution which would not improve EMLM’s financial situation.
The vast majority of 30 readers (68.18%) believed it was madness and would only plunge the local municipality into further debt.
