Did you know that on this day, March 4, 1936, the first flight of the airship Hindenburg took place at Friedrichshafen, Germany.
Just over a year later, on May 6, 1937, the Hindenburg crashed and caught alight while trying to dock in New Jersey in the USA. A total of 36 people died with 62 of the 97 passengers and the crew surviving.
