DID you know that on this day, April 15, 1912, the RMS Titanic hit an iceberg off Newfoundland during its maiden voyage from Southampton to New York?

According to the website www.history.com, over 1 500 people of the 2 240 people on board the luxury steamship died. The disaster has since prompted various books and films, including the 1997 film, ‘Titanic’ by James Cameron.
