TWO suspects, aged 23 and 25, are in custody in what police believe is a major breakthrough in property theft cases in the area.
Police spokeswoman Captain Ursula Roelofse said an intelligence-driven operation by various units had led to the arrests following several incidents of theft over the past three weeks.
The recovered property include diesel, water pumps, a CCTV system, hardware tools, a chainsaw, truck batteries, grinders, drills, generators and bolt cutters with a total value of R80 000.
A Toyota Hilux bakkie was also seized from one of the suspects.
A third man, aged 41, was arrested for allegedly receiving the stolen goods with two truck batteries also seized.
The suspects will appear in the Aliwal North Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.
Police management in the are thanked the members for the arrests and recoveries and the community for reporting and rejecting suspected stolen goods.
