Concern grows over Komani power outages

After two consecutive power outages in so many nights, residents of Komani are understandably greatly concerned.

Last night’s outage of about two and a half hours followed another power cut on Monday night, which left residents in the cold and dark for over an hour.

The Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality (EMLM) has indicated that the problems may be associated to an overload in the system.

As winter takes hold of the area, the demand on the power supply will not lessen. The electrical infrastructure system of the area has long been of concern and in need of an extensive revamp – but finances are the problem.

The Rep will be trying to get some more answers on what EMLM will be doing to address the electricity system failure this week.

  1. I am glad to see that the power outage on Tuesday night was only 2 hours or thereabouts, Komani street area power was only restored at 05H20 Wednesday morning, that is something to think about, almost 12 hours.

  2. Hi, most areas seemed to have been about two and a half. Did not hear about Komani Street’s extended outage – have you had any feedback from the municipality as to the reason?
