BREAKING: Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality (EMLM) is said to have made some payment to Eskom yesterday as part of their payment agreement plan signed in April.
EMLM spokesman Fundile Feketshane indicated to The Rep today that the local authority paid R17-million to Eskom yesterday.
On Tuesday, Eskom spokesman Zama Mpondwana said in a statement, the power utility would serve the public with a 14-day notice due to EMLM’s lack of payment.
In another statement received from the Eskom today, Mpondwana said, “Eskom confirms it has received some payment from EMLM yesterday. Eskom continues to engage with the municipality to settle the outstanding arrears as per the payment plan agreement.”
