The towns of Dordrecht and Cacadu remain in the midst of conflict as protests against the Emalahleni Municipality continue.
Unconfirmed reports are that a community hall in Dordrecht was gutted on Friday.
The protests, led by Sanco and the Lady Frere Residents’ Association, are demanding that the mayor Nomveliso Nyukwana step down and that allegations of corruption within the local authority be investigated.
Despite a visit by the ANC PEC and an official of the Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs last week, the protest action continued today as businesses remained closed.
Police said streets were quiet.
