A section of the Komani CBD including Prince Alfred Street and Owen Street is without power.
A cable outside The Rep offices in Prince Alfred Street had sparks running along it a few minutes ago with a number of small explosions which could be heard before the power went out.
The Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality technical department has however indicated that a larger section of tow is without power due to overloading of the system.
It is not known at present when the power will be back on.
