Intsika Yethu pupils to benefit from career expo in Cofimvaba

A total of 4 000 Grade 11 and 12 learners from 28 schools in the Intsika Yethu Municipality in the Eastern Cape will be exposed to career opportunities in the human settlements sector on Friday.

The Career Expo, championed by the Department of Human Settlements and its entities, is part of an outreach programme aimed at ensuring that information on departmental programmes and opportunities is accessed by all learners throughout the country. Government Departments, Human Settlements Agencies and private sector partners will exhibit and disseminate important information to empower leaners in the area on issues such as bursary opportunities and career prospects.

The Department of Human Settlements offers bursaries to students that would want to be specialists in the built environment and a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Settlements is now offered at the Universities of Fort Hare, Nelson Mandela, UNISA and Free Sate. Human Settlements Minister Nomaindiya Mfeketo will address the learners on Friday.

The event will start at 8am at the Cofimvaba stadium.
