Members of the South African Municipal Workers Union (Samwu) protested outside the ANC sub-region offices against the invocation of section 139 (1) (b) by the MEC for the Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) Fikile Xasa. A petition of demands was received and signed by an official from Cogta. Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality executive mayor Sisisi Tolashe indicated in a special council meeting that Xasa had postponed his visit set for Monday to introduce an administrator.
