Amavarara played their first soccer league game on Wednesday in Mthatha against Mthatha Bucks for the ABC Motsepe League that started last week.
Amavarara bagged a 2-1 win with coach Archie Dyeli saying playing in the league was one of the team’s  greatest achievements to date.
Dyeli said the team had been hard at work training for the game with the players’ fitness levels up to scratch considering they also included younger players in the squad.
Dyeli said the fact that they played an experienced team did not intimidate them as they were both mentally and physically prepared.
“Mthatha Bucks is a very experienced team. Unlike us, they have played in the National First Division (NFD) and this was our first league game.”
The Bucks coach Sibusiso Mapompo could not be reached for comment.
