Two men who killed an elderly woman in Maclear on July 1, 2017, have been jailed for life.
Mawethu Gadesweni, 29, and Sonwabile Kholisa, 30, were convicted of stabbing Krwalanti Skiti, 79. She sustained multiple wounds and was robbed of her pension money. Skiti died of her injuries.
In a statement by the police, it was indicated that “Detective Constable Mayile worked tireless investigating the case and following up leads until the suspects were arrested on 27 August 2017. He successfully opposed bail and the suspects have been in custody since the arrest. ”
Both were sentenced to life for the murder and to 15 years for the robbery by the Grahamstown High Court. The sentences will run concurrently.
