Komani doctors have organised a two-fold Cancer Awareness Campaign, providing a platform for women to become more informed about the illness.
Doctor Wendy Xaso, who came up with the idea approached Dr Nothunzi Magida and Dr Tshiamo Modisapudi to join her in the launch of the event in Komani.
Breast cancer survivor Dr Zozo Sontshi was the guest speaker of the event.
Xaso said, “It is common for patients come to us in their advance stages of breast cancer because people are not doing regular check ups.”
She said it was important for women to do their breast examinations followed by an ultrasound for women under 40 when there were lumps while women over 40 should have regular mammograms.
The event started with two hours of aerobics and health screening along with blood drawn for test other forms of cancer at the Nonesi Mall.
The main event followed with a high tea at the Idle Wild Guest Farm where the dress theme of the event was pink elegant dresses with hats and heels for women and black suits for men.
