The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) weekly report on the status of reservoirs in the province has indicated that the recorded average of dam levels has declined from 64.5% to 63.7%.
DWS spokesman Jumba Lameki said the Chris Hani District was suffering a similar fate with the Boesmanskrantz Dam dropping from 28.7% to 28.3%. The Waterdown Dam declined from 84.9% to 82.6%, and Oxkraal Dam from 58.3% to 57.7%.
“The department urges the public to use water responsibly as the province grapples with the decline of dam levels.”
