Gigaba should have resigned earlier – Cope

Cope has indicated that it would not welcome yesterday’s resignation of Malusi Gigaba as Home Affairs Minister.

Cope national spokesman Dennis Bloem said Gigaba “should have resigned in disgrace during Jacob Zuma’s tenure as President when his involvement in the State Capture project first came to light.”

Bloem said Gigaba should not have been appointed by Ramaphosa to his Cabinet and that he should have been summarily fired when he was found to have perjured himself.

“This sorry saga points to his and his party’s moral bankruptcy and the inability of Ramaphosa to take decisive decisions.”
