A Cala policeman is in a stable condition after he was shot in the leg by robbers last night.
Police spokesman Captain Namhla Mdleleni said two police members on duty spotted a white Toyota bakkie with its lights on near a business in Cala.
As police approached, shots were fired at them. A group of men exiting from the business joined in firing shots at the police.
One police member was shot in the right leg and was later admitted to a Komani hospital for medical attention.
Police are investigating with Eastern Cape provincial commissioner Lieutenant-General Liziwe Ntshinga condemning the attack on the police.
