Unrest continues to plague the embattled town of Stutterheim, disrupting traffic on the N6.

Reports of a truck set alight on the road to Stutterheim early this morning has been received, only days after the Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Fikile Xasa announced an investigation into the affairs of the Amahlati municipality following claims of nepotism and corruption.

The town’s municipal offices were gutted about three weeks ago with refuse not being collected and the water plant near Mlungisi vandalised.

Members of the Public Order Policing Unit are in Stutterheim and keeping a close eye on the situation but motorists have been warned to avoid the route if possible.
